Our staff

People with a passion for people!

It takes a lot more than just two staff to make all that happens at First Baptist Church taken place. There are so many people that put in a lot of hours and prayers into the people of Martinsburg. We would be nothing without our hard working volunteers!

PASTOR: CRAIG SMITH

Father of two beautiful children and husband to his bride. Their life motto is Gospitality! Their home is a place where their family teams together to show the love of Jesus through their hospitality and warm embrace! Pastor Craig received a Masters of Theological Studies from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas.

 Ministry Objective:

My mission is to expand the kingdom of God by graciously extending the love of Christ to everyone everywhere. Because of that mission, I desire to preach the gospel, apply God's word and shepherd God's people. I seek, in God's divine providence, to lead the church to become a lighthouse for the community by reaching through relationships of integrity and intentionality.

YOUTH PASTOR: KYLE HAMLIN

A self-described “country boy,” has spent the majority of his life in Central Arkansas. His love for all things “great outdoors” pales only in comparison to his love for his family, and his passion for sharing the transformative power of Jesus with young people. He is known for his quick wit, immediate love for each person he meets, and his ability to communicate deep, biblical truths in a personal and meaningful manner. He is also known for his skill as a handyman and uncanny talent for quoting movie lines.  He and his wife Brooke have been married since the summer of 2013 and have a really awesome son named Ryder and daughter Hadley!

Ministry Objective:

"I desire to see disciples who make disciples, who make disciples through a Disciple Making Ministry. I seek to challenge students and their families to use Jesus as our model and motivation for ministry."

Children's Director: Brooke Hamlin

She is passionate about introducing children to the REAL Jesus—not the monochromatic, 2-D, storybook Jesus, but the God who invented laughter, hugged lepers, and rejoices over His children with singing, whose life LEAPS out at us from the pages of His Word. She loves discovering innovative ways to present the Gospel through story and hanging out with her studly husband and two sweet babies, Ryder and Hadley.

Brooke earned a BA in journalism from Patrick Henry College in Purcellville, Virginia. Her first children’s book, “Noah’s Invisible Adventures,” focuses on the inspiring journey of a blind child and the intersection of his faith and his imagination. You can find out more about her crazy adventures in this life lived following Jesus at theunboring.com.
